Milestone Preparatory School which was founded by Doctor Tsitsi Molly Mupfunya has a learner population of 180-185 boys and girls. It is a private,co-educational preparatory boarding and day school for learners aged 5-12 .The school is situated 43 km east of Rusape along the Rusape –Nyanga highway. It is surrounded by many hectares of indigenous msasa woodland and the exotic blue eucalyptus plantations.
The ethos and image of the school are based on the absolute conviction that every learner matters. We pride ourselves on promoting Christian values and a productive environment for both learners and staff (Milestonians) to reach their potentials and thrive in a supportive environment. We believe that education is fundamental to personal and national development. It provides a myriad of opportunities. Education also underpins the development of highly skilled innovative workforce which is critical for social, cultural and economic growth. Milestone Preparatory School remains committed to fulfilling the potential of all our learners. Emphasis is given to providing improved qualitative world class education to every learner who passes through the school system. We aim to provide today’s generation with knowledge, skills and a hybrid of attitudes built upon integrity, which is our school motto that will drive individual growth and prosperity.
At the centre of this phenomenal growth and achievement are our dedicated administrators, parents, staff and learners both past and present whose invaluable contributions can never be overstated. We desire to expose every learner to disciplines of Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Mathematics, Sport, Arts and Heritage studies. In addition learners will be exposed to life-and –work learning contexts through life skills orientation programs. These targets may appear ambitious but entirely achievable. Our low teacher learner ratio ensures that each learner receives the attention they need in and outside the school. We do not teach a number of residential staff which facilitates care and interaction with learners all the time.
WHAT WE OFFER
ACADEMIC
The school is currently a ZIMSEC centre offering the following academic subjects; Mathematics, Shona, English, FAREME, Heritage studies, Science and Technology, Physical Education, Visual and performing arts, ICT and Agriculture.
LANGUAGES
We offer Chishona, English and French.
SPORT
Sport is an integral part of our curriculum hence we offer a wide variety of sports. Our teams have grown from strength to strength and have seen the school become a force to reckon with in the sporting arena. We offer hockey, cricket, tennis, rugby, soccer, netball, swimming and golf.
MUSIC
Music has been incorporated consistently into daily routines during lessons, assemblies, devotions and school functions. Learners have lessons on both theory and practical.
ACTIVITIES
We take part in the National Institute of Allied Arts activities.
CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
Milestone Preparatory school has the following cultural and extra mural activities; Environmental conservation, Golf, Chess, Music, Drama, Table tennis, Young writers, Interact, Nature walk. Debate, Public speaking , Drummies and Pathfinders.
HOUSES
Within the school, learners are grouped into two houses that compete along academic and sporting lines. The houses are Lion (RED) and Cheetah(BLUE) The link between these two houses comes from the apt and fierce competition between lions and cheetahs.
